Mini blog sale, TJ Maxx markdowns and thrifted finds

If I had the time I would thrift every day. These days I've only had time to go once a week if I'm lucky. On Tuesday I found these Missoni for Target pieces. My girls already have several pieces from the collection so when I pulled out the gloves and hat my 7 year old daughter got excited and screamed out "Missoni!" I should mention she's my mini-me so while I'm impressed she recognized the designer, I'm not surprised :)

I also found the matching shoes for $3 - here they are just out of the washing machine.

Hat and gloves were $4 and shoes were $3

My son has been burning through winter coats this season. He just poked a hole in a brand new Gymboree coat so now I need to find a cute patch to cover the hole. He also broke the zipper on his last (thrifted) North Face coat so instead of replacing the zipper I just got him another one for $13 - I'm guessing it would cost at least that to fix it. Needless to say I tested the zipper (multiple times) on this one before purchasing it.

The North Face jacket for my son $13

Despite the cold weather I've been trying to think ahead for Spring so I picked up this cute Helen Wang strapless cotton gingham dress for $8. Note the cute ruffle at the top. It's a smidge big but wearable.

The stretch cotton is so flattering - plus the top is boned for a better fit.

That day I also dug through the pile of of wallets and found this gem for $4. As soon as I saw the Medusa I grabbed it LOL.

Yep, Versace!
Cute, right?

I actually went back on Thursday because my niece from LA is in town and I had to take her to my favorite haunts :) She found a cute jean skirt and I found a few goodies as well :)

My favorite find of the day...

$8 Tracy Reese!

I adore Tracy Reese - she's so girly and playful and she cuts for real women. And for 8 bucks you can't go wrong :) I actually followed the woman putting out skirts after I spotted this across the room. She finally figured out I was shadowing her and offered it to me LOL.

Close up of embroidered silk skirt and wide belted waistband.

Yeah it's a 2 but I'm 10 lbs away from zipping it up - I WILL fit this skirt!

I also grabbed a few goodies for my girls. Everything in the picture below was $2 or less :) The skirts are Flowers for Zoe and Mish and I couldn't leave the American Girl tote :)

Love these $3 Naturino boots - they are waterproof and I look for them in every size for my kids.

$3 Naturino girls boots

And last but not least, I grabbed these as well...

Unlabeled metallic leather skirt - only $8!

$8 metallic leather skirt - I can just squeeze into it :)

Gap lightweight down jacket - very moto inspired. It's a little tight but for $4 I'll save it for my girls - or for me when I loose more weight :) All the thrifted small jackets I got last year fit now so I'm hoping to size down again by next winter.

Cute Italian suede and leather boots for $15 - very Sergio Rossi, right? The are actually by Marina Rinaldi who is a high-end plus-size designer. Didn't know she made shoes...

$15 suede boots! All I need is my suede brush and they'll look as good as new.

Overall it was a pretty successful thrifting week :)

I also popped into TJ Maxx and Marshalls this week to check for new markdowns. I picked up a cute Rebecca Minkoff blazer for Sheev and a few things for me :)

I've been watching this Sultra curling wand for MONTHS! If finally dropped to $29 (retail $145) and the Chi hairspray was just $3!

The Runway stuff at TJ had another round of markdowns - I found this Marc Jacobs dress. It has a very sexy silhouette and it just seemed interesting. I found a size 8 but it was a little big so I grabbed this one. It's marked size 2 but it must be mismarked because it fits and I am not a designer 2 so I'm guessing it's a 4 or 6. And then I saw the price...

Close up of floral applique. A little grandma but in an interesting way.

The most exciting part of this Marc Jacobs dress - $129 from $1,799.99. Insane.

Marc Jacobs for over 90% off? Yes, please.

And here's what you've all been waiting for! Blog sale, round #2

I was hoping to get this up earlier but I spent Wednesday evening at the ER with my son (and other 2 kids) after he mangled his finger in school - still not clear on exactly what happened. For some reason my husband is always at work when one of my kids needs stitches or an ER visit. Luckily my niece was in town and it was sooo helpful having an extra set of hands at the hospital (thanks Y!) His finger was so messed up they couldn't even stitch it up - they just poured glue all over it. He's fine (thank goodness) and was happy to not have to do homework that night LOL.

My rules - please read!
Prices are listed and do not include Paypal fees and exact shipping unless you are picking up from me locally. No resellers - I know how to Ebay too. This time I've added a small (20% or less) mark-up to the prices to compensate me for my bargain-hunting time.  If you want to meet up you have three days to meet me or the item goes to the next in line. No returns as I'm not Walmart so know your size and ask questions as needed. Pet free, smoke free home. Close friends and family have first dibs for the first 48 hours and then it's open to all my readers :)  If you're interested in anything contact me here or on my Shoppinggalnyc Facebook page.

The North Face Danella reversible down jacket in black, size small. the retail is $399, my price $130. This is a refurbished jacket from Nordstrom so it does not have the original tags but it looks new. The size chart says it's a 4/6. I would have kept it but it's a little snug on bottom (I wear a 4 on top and 6 skirt) but it does zip up on me. I'm guessing it would probably best fit a size 4 - or a non pear shaped small 6.

Create a breathable barrier against wet weather in a toasty performance jacket that reverses from a waterproof HyVent® 2L shell to quilted, water-repellent nylon ripstop. Whichever way you wear it, the layer is warmed by lofty 700-fill power made for mountaintop conditions.
  • 35" length (size Medium).
  • Front zip closure.
  • Removable belt with buckle closure.
  • Zip front pockets; chest pocket.
  • Lined, with 700-fill power goose down insulation.
  • 100% polyester and 100% nylon.
  • Machine wash warm, tumble dry low.

Thrifted Amour size 7 vintage blue heels - super cute but they didn't fit my friend Sheev or my niece M. Probably more like a 6.5 than a 7. Insole measurement is approx. 10 inches long and the heels are 3.5 inches high. The color is amazing (cross between a cobalt blue and purple) and there is something so current about them. Pretty sure they are leather. By the right heel (by the insole - see pic) it looks like something is sticking up from the inside but neither person who tried these on noticed feeling anything, and I just wanted to mention it. Asking just $5.

You can see the tiny bump above the H
They show very little wear, even on the sole.

A number of my friends have asked for a Burberry jacket so when I saw this one I grabbed it even though it wasn't crazy cheap. It's the Burberry Brit Ashlington black quilted jacket in size XS. I tried it on and I could get it to close but it's best for a 2/4. Retail $650, my price just $275.

And no, they didn't have anymore in any other sizes - this was the last one in the entire company - I checked!

Back to Basics :) TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack & Target finds (Peter Pilotto for 80% off!)

I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally created a Shoppinggal page on Facebook so please like me and follow me there as I'll be posting all my deals there first!  Also - a reader named Rachel messaged me about the Herve Leger dress from my blog sale. Rachel it's still available so if you're interested message me on Facebook ASAP!

It's been a while since I went Target hunting so yesterday I decided to try my hand at finding a cheap Dyson and see where the Peter Pilotto collaboration was holding. No luck on the Dyson front (and I checked 4 stores) but the collaboration is now 30-70% off (depends on the piece) but your best bet is online returns which are approx. 80% off :) The trick is to find a find an item that scans item not found and then bring it to customer service where they can print you a red price tag.

Here are my best Peter Pilotto scores:

Red tote - found another one of these today!

Just $7.06 - it retailed for $39.99! And to think I was happy to find the neon green and white tote 50% off for $20 LOL.

Cute skirt, right?

Even cuter for $6.16!

Yesterday I also found these goodies:

My favorite hangers :)  This color was 50% off!
Just $4.48 for 10 so I got 100 hangers :)

Random office supplies 70% off

Sports organizer 50% off for my son - $20. It's HUGE! ETA: It got marked down to $13 so I re-bought it and returned the $20 one :)

I headed back to Target today and grabbed these :)

70% off star pinata (I also saw a football helmet) for my daughter's party $4.55 - it's a little beat up so I may return...

More party goods and office supplies for 70% off!

And if you think I didn't hit the Rack this week...then you really don't know me LOL.

I've been looking for a leather skirt (I can't find my old one in the basement - I used to wear it with this amazing leather bustier that I lent to my former coworker Tara for Halloween and she never returned it. Tara, if you're out there, I want my bustier back already!!!) so when I saw this Burberry one for 85% off I got really excited :)

Burberry London high waist leather skirt, retail $1595

I also found this faux leather A-line skirt but I'm on the fence as it's a little plastic looking but the cut is really flattering. Then again it was only $26...

I also scored this cute cotton tank dress for $5.98 that reminded me of Missoni. I'm thinking about putting it away for Fall. I'm having a hard time shopping for Spring when it's still pretty cold outside.

On one of my online boards someone posted they found a burgundy Michael Kors leather jacket for $50 so I had to check in my Rack and guess what I found in my size?

It was still there because the tag read $100 - but I knew better!

And if you haven't been to the Rack in a while it's worth the trip because A. they had lots of markdowns last week and B. they are offering triple points for all Nordstrom card holders thru the 23rd :)

*******************

Next to one of my favorite out of the way Targets is a TJ Maxx runway store so I couldn't not pop in. They had these cute Blahnik flats for $200 in my size but I passed as I was feeling thrifty.

I did grab these amazing studded navy blue Schutz heels for $60 - I'm a little obsessed with them at the moment. And yes, I can walk in them.

And that's all folks - have a great weekend! Don't forget to find me on Facebook!
