Wearing It - Rebecca Taylor Sample Sale Score

Had back to back parties yesterday so I pulled out another of my amazing Rebecca Taylor sample sale dresses. Scored this $595 Charlotte studded silk & lace dress for just $50 a couple weeks ago - so I put it together with some of my old favorites (and new ones).

From head to toe:
  • Earrings - A.V. Max, sample sale, $4 (retails for $50+)
  • Sunglasses - My son got these at the party we went to, free.
  • Lipstick - Miley Cyrus Viva Glam (hands down my favorite lippie this season), $16 but I got it for free with Nordstrom notes.
  • Dress - Rebecca Taylor Charlotte studded silk & lace dress, 260 Sample Sale, $50
  • Studded bracelet - Target faux leather studded wrap bracelet, around $5
  • Bangle bracelets - Chanel bracelets, both 75% off @ Neiman Marcus, stacked with a $.01 studded bracelet from the Rack.
  • Ring - TJ Maxx, $25
  • Bag - Zara distressed leather roll clutch, $10 (retail $80)
  • Shoes - Tamara Mellon Bad Girl sandals, 260 Sample Sale, $55 (retail $750)
  • Toe polish - OPI Red My Fortune Cookie, Nordstrom Rack, $3.98

After 4 hours in heels I had enough. I used to spend all day in heels back in my 20s - now in my 40s I like to give myself a break so I can continue to wear heels for many years to come.

For a while I've been considering linking similar items to my finds in my fashion shows. Problem is, they're not gonna be as cheap. I know most of you appreciate my thriftiness and probably don't want to spend more than I did LOL. The good news is I share my best deals with my personal shopping clients. Just sayin.

So here is my question - links or no links? Would love to hear your thoughts :)

Thanks for reading!

More Crocs Deals!!! (Clear the Rack & H&M Clearance too!)

Yeah, I'm obsessed and I'm not sure why you're not. I LOVE my Sexi Flips! My Kohls order came in and I forgot how super comfortable they are when they are brand new and not stretched out and worn down. Don't get me wrong, even an old pair is pretty comfy but it's just not the same as brand spanking new.

The Kohls deal is still going on - read all about it here. Codes still work, I ordered my BIL a pair of sandals this morning :)

A reader actually alerted me to Crocs being at Zulily. I checked and I had a $15 credit so I scored Crocbands for my giant footed son for just $.94! They were $8.99 plus $6.99 shipping - but once you pay shipping for your initial purchase, you get free shipping for the rest of the weekend!

Both of these men/unisex Crocbands are still available in a few sizes for just $8.99!

I'm thinking about ordering another pair of Sexi Flips for $12.99 now that shipping will be free for me.

They have Island Green for just $9.99 but I prefer them in more neutral colors.

They also have the Really Sexi Sandals in pink and orange in a few sizes but I find that the buckle always rubs my foot and I prefer the Sexi Flips.

They had a few styles for kids as low as $6.99! If you buy a few pairs it's a decent deal. Don't forget Ebates for an extra 1% back - it isn't much, but every penny counts :)

If you don't have a Kohls card and you don't want to deal with Zulily's notoriously slow shipping then you can go to Crocs.com for 50% off selected styles with code SALE50. They also have free shipping for orders over $24.99 - plus, Ebates is offering 5% back right now.

They have a handful of styles for less than $10! Sexi Flips are 50% off of $29.99 in solid colors - which is great with the extra 5% back, free shipping (if you get a couple pairs) and they have all sizes available in candy pink right now! They also have some sizing in black, espresso and island green, and the patterned styles for $1 more.

************

I've been picking up bits and pieces from the H&M sale - scored a couple of my favorite ($17.95) bikini tops. I was happy with my $7 one until I found one for $3 LOL. I love how they cut in your bra size and even have underwires for a very comfortable and supportive fit.

Clear the Rack at Nordstrom Rack actually started today but I didn't get a thing. The Rack has been failing me of late. Sale is on now thru June 21st - take 25% off all red ticket clearance.

Have a great weekend and happy shopping!

Beauty Boxes and Markdowns :)

I'm going to work backwards and tell you to run to your H&M stores because their summer sale has begun! Tons of stuff marked down to $1-20 :)

I picked up this cute glow in the dark hat for my son for a buck because I knew he's get a kick out of it. #LMAO

Honestly the hat, plus a pair of $3 sunglasses for DH, and a new $7 bikini top in a smaller size (yay!) was all I scored so far. I hit two stores today and there are a couple more nearby that I'll probably check out tomorrow.

********

Last week both my Target $5 beauty box and $1 Birchbox arrived. The Target box was chock-full of goodies - the Revlon HD red lipstick in Gladious alone paid for the box. Goes one smooth and wears like a popsicle red lip stain. Also included was an eye cream, nail polish, nail polish remover pads and dry shampoo. I have to say I love everything. Totally worth it.

On the other hand, the Birchbox wasn't all that impressive. Let's just say, you got what you paid for. The box had a bunch of tiny samples and the only thing I even liked was the hair styling clip. I wish I had a second because you need more than one to do your hair LOL. Maybe it's just me but I wish I got more cosmetics - all it had was a tiny purple eyeliner (forgot to photograph it). I would have liked a more colorful box, KWIM? I even indicated I wanted cosmetic samples in their survey but I still got lots of tiny random tubes of goo that are pretty useless for me. If you got this box of randomness as well, I'm sorry I made you waste $1. Me thinks I'll be cancelling shortly.

Last but not least I have an Instagram giveaway ending tonight! Picked up a bunch of these furry crocs for a penny and I have lot's of extras in size toddler 6/7.

If that size works for you head over to my Insta and look for this picture to join in the fun :)

Sample sale season is winding down but the retail sales are in full force. Right now there are discounts of 40-60% off in Barneys, Bergdorfs and Saks. Louboutin is only 40% and the Chanel boutique pre-sale for 30% off shoes and clothing starts this Friday. It's getting harder and harder to find discounted Chanel accessories. Stores like Neiman Marcus no longer have Chanel accessories on sale - good thing I got my bag and bracelets for 75% off when I did.

I'm trying to behave so I'm gonna skip the sales for now. I'll LYK when I cave and what I find LOL.

$15 for the best summer sandals ever!

Yes, I said Crocs. Most people look at me funny when I say I love my Crocs but then they see my Sexi Flips and understand. And yes, I just said Sexi Flips.

I love open shoes - my feet like to breathe so I go from Uggs right to flip flops as soon as I can. I used to live in Reef Ginger flip flops because they don't tear your feet up like most flips (and they have great arch support) but they turn your feet black - and I got sick of scrubbing my feet every day.

Reef Ginger flip flops

Then I went thru a Fit Flop stage and I still occasionally pull them out because they also don't turn your feet black and I always grab a pair at Century 21 when they go down to 75% off (less than $12). But now, Crocs are my one true love.

My rosegold Fit Flops

I am obsessed with these shoes. So light and comfy and they look great on. My feet stay nice and clean and because they have a back they are perfect for driving. The only downside to these chic sandals is that they stretch out so you have to buy a pair every couple months if you choose to live in them. With my old ugly crocs I was able to wear them until the tread wore off but you can't do that in these. This is why I make sure to stock up when I find them for $15 or less (they retail for about $30).

Kohls always has amazing online deals for Kohls card holders so if you don't already have a Kohls card - go get one already! If you're just getting started, you can look for deals on slickdeals (they have a running Kohls deal thread). They almost always have multiple codes to stack (you can stack up to 4 at a time!) and the best deals/coupons are for cardholders. Don't forget to use ebates for an additional 6% cash back right now :)

Right now the codes you can stack are:
  • BBQ30 - 30% off for Kohls cardholders
  • DADSDAY10 -$10 off a $30 mens purchase
  • JUNE4MVC - Free shipping for Kohls cardholders
These zebra Sexi Flips are on sale for just $20.97 and with the free shipping and 30% off they come out to just $15.55 pre-ebates. Look how perfectly they coordinate with my new 3.1 Phillip Lim mini Pashli messenger.

Note that sizes are going fast on this color. They do have a few other colors available right now for a few dollars more but I'm cheap LOL.

It comes out to $20.77 for the Sexi Wild Flips (yes that's the name...)

And for $18.54 after Kohls discounts, you can get the espresso or island green.

If you're looking for cheap gifts for your hubby you can stack that DADSDAY10 code for some killer deals. A couple weeks ago I hoarded khaki pants for my husband and his twin brother for just $8 a pair.

Got both my $1 Birchbox and $5 Target beauty box (both deals expired, sorry) this week - did you guys get yours yet? I'll be sure to post a review once I finish playing with everything.

Have a great weekend!

Wearing it - Tracy Reese Sample Sale Score :)

Believe it or not I've been buying less and less as I continue to edit my flooded closets. But sometimes when I find a crazy deal it's just too good to resist.

Case in point, this $25 Tracy Reese silk dress that I just picked up at her sample sale. The colors are amazing and that price was a no brainer.

From top to bottom;

  • Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana, $16 (75% off sale), Century 21
  • Earrings: Argento Vivo, $25, Nordstrom Rack
  • Dress: Tracy Reese $365 silk dress, $25, sample sale
  • Cuff Bracelet: Gerard Yosca, $10 (easily 10 years old and it's still my fave), sample sale
  • Spear Bracelet: Robyn Rhodes, Agate Spear cuff from Rocksbox monthly jewelry subscription box - get your first month free with code shoppinggalxoxo
  • Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Perry Bag, $50, sample sale
  • Shoes: Ugg Australia, $35 (a couple years ago), Saks off 5th

Disclaimer - this is what I look like after a full day of sample sale-ing. I probably should have reapplied my lipstick. And my hair looked better pre-friz...and pulling this dress on and off several dozen times to try stuff on at Parker and Shoshanna didn't help. I took my kids to the park and made my 10 year old son shoot me while eating his ices LOL. I'm still not sure this dress is the most flattering for my shape but again, $25! and it's a easy dress to throw on and accessorize when I'm on the go - which is always.

I heard Parker slashed their prices on samples from $40 to $25 - wish I could have gone into the City but I had my niece's kindergarten graduation today. I also have my curly-headed daughter's K graduation tomorrow so I'm done with sample sales for the week. I did find a few online deals so I'll be sure to share them with you tomorrow :)

Sample Sale Marathon. Five sales in one day...Parker, Shoshanna, Yosca, AV Max & Modo :)

I actually planned on hitting eight total but I ran out of time so I only checked out five sales today.

Started at Parker (day 2 of their sale) because they opened at 9 am. I saw the Racked pics and wasn't impressed but I am so glad I stopped by. Most samples are just $40 (except beaded and leather) and a size small. I didn't think I would fit their stuff but I did and it was so good. I don't want to even think about what I missed yesterday. Fall/Winter clothing seems to be your best bet in sample land. I saw tons of knit dresses, winter coats and blazers - all for $40!

Wish this coat was more flattering!

Leather dress $100

I can't really wear their beaded stuff (runs narrow) but I admired this $80 beaded and feather skirt and dress. Gorgeous.

Beaded dress $100

I was slightly obsessed with this beaded leather crop top but I didn't want to spend the $80.

Lots of beaded stuff - all priced $80-100.

The did have a nice selection of stock but I really didn't bother because samples were so plentiful.

I took home this bandage gown - it reminded me of a Herve Leger I liked last season. And it was $40 :) The zipper is broken but that's an easy fix. I was actually surprised that the samples were overall in good condition. Of course, not the dress I wanted LOL -  and they said no discounts for damaged goods.

There is a makeshift dressing room with a large mirror and they take cash or credit cards. You do not need to check your bags for this one. Note to self, get there for day one next time.

Right next door was the Shoshanna sale so I had to stop by. Typically their stuff isn't my style but a friend went to VIP the day before and picked up a few cute pieces so I was intrigued. The sale is in their tiny showroom and you had to get buzzed in and check your bag. It was so packed in there that let's just say I had a hard time taking pics that didn't show half-naked women undressing.

As always, let's start with the samples.  I didn't see any coats - just lots of dresses, some skirts and a few pairs of pants. Looking around I wasn't too impressed. Sample dresses are $50 and her styles are a little too basic for me. Sample size is around a 4/6 and fit me - but nothing was special enough for my already pretty impressive closet.

$35 (leather?) skirt

$50 sample dress

$50 sample dress

Stock (size 0-12) was arranged by size and indicated by colored dots.

They did have some great deals on ladies swimwear. They had girls $20 swim too. Stock swimwear is $15 per piece but the best deals were the samples for $10 a piece, or sets for $20. Unfortunately you can't try any swim on so I didn't bother because I don't know how she fits me.

Bottom line, if you love her stuff (especially her swimwear) it's worth the trip.

I swore I wasn't going to Yosca this year but I'm a junkie and I needed my fix.

They didn't allow photography so I'm just gonna share what I got. This time around I only got a few pairs of their $3 earrings that they do for Banana Republic.

They had tons of $3-10 items and their collection pieces started at $20 and usually go to $100+ but honestly I didn't even look at the high end stuff this time. A reseller always gets there when they open and clears out a lot of the better cheap stuff so I was happy to get what I got because I got there late because I had so much fun at Parker. I'm just so happy to be able to buy sample clothing that accessories aren't as big of a priority anymore.

BTW, you have to check your bag and it's cash only.

AV Max is my secret sale that for some reason doesn't appear on the bigger sample sale websites. I almost don't want word to get out LOL. As soon as you walk in to their cheerful, light filled showroom you are greeted by a large couch (so nice to sit!) and cocktails. After finding a AV Max cuff at the Rent the Runway sale I googled them and patiently waited for their next sample sale. Last time I scored tons of $5-10 cuffs but this time I hoarded earrings. Earrings are priced $5 each or 5 pairs for $20.  From the cards I'm guessing they do jewelry for Neiman Marcus as well as Anthropology.

These were my picks - I tried to be good and get 5 pairs but I needed 6 so I just went for 10 LOL.

I also picked up this cute open cuff for $10 and rings were all $5 each - how cute if this tiny stone one?

Took lots of pics from their mini displays. Everything was $5-25, and all prices were marked by colored dots. They were filling in the whole time I was there. Everyone was so nice - most pleasant sample sale ever.

$5 rings

$10 leather belts

Embellished cuffs

Tomorrow is the last day so be sure to head over for for a drink and some cheap bling.

It was at this point that I had to prioritize so I skipped the Tocca, Tuleste and Alice & Olivia sales and headed straight to the Modo sale where all eyewear was just $20. They have sunglasses and optical frames, stock and samples.  Brands include 3.1 Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Derek Lam and more! They didn't have too much when I got there but it's totally worth a look if you're nearby :) I probably should have gone to Tuleste instead but I had enough jewelry for the day.

Note - this sale is cash only so hit the ATM first.

I wore one of my cute Tracy Reese $25 sample dresses today but I'll share my look in the next post - I think that's enough for today LOL.
