Who's Ready for My Latest Haul??!!

It's been about a month since my last haul post - today I'm sharing my Vera Wang sample sale scores, a thrift store find and some Nordstrom Rack Clear the Rack deals!

The Vera Wang sample sale had some amazing discounts! These $800 Riley sandals were mine for just 25 bucks :) They sold out of most larger sizes so these were the only shoes that came home with me.

I tried on a $5000 fur jacket that would have been $175 but it was too crazy for me - and that says a lot. I love this $1895 menswear inspired wool coat - those cut out shoulders totally sold me. Then I saw Kiley Jenner in pics wearing it to fashion week and it went down a notch or two. But it's really cool - so cool that when the male sales associate saw me in it - he ran and grabbed a larger size for himself LOL. Stay tuned for Fashion Week where we'll have our own who wore it better :)

It looks really expensive...and did I mention it was just $100?!

I went a little crazy at the jewelry table but in my defense, you should see what some of my friends came back with. I was immediately drawn to the bugs so I snapped up the necklace for $37.50 and pins for $20 each. As you can see on the tag, the bug brooches retailed for $395 each. Some of the necklaces retailed for over $1,000 but this is the only one that really spoke to me. All the bracelets were $20 as well. The earrings were $10 and I really only grabbed them because they were cuter than the $5 tee shirts - and I had to purchase 10 items to get the 50% off promotion.

I seriously regret either not getting to this sale a day earlier - and not grabbing more jewelry.

Nordstrom Rack has been serving up quality over quantity recently - here are a few of my recent Clear the Rack finds. This $965 Elizabeth and James Iris oversized Mongolian lamb fur collared coat was just under $60 after discount. Crazy!

My $925 Pologeorgis rabbit and goat fur vest came out to under $39!

And my Alice & Olivia $698 Tina metallic ballgown skirt came out to less than $40 - that's cheaper than sample sale pricing!

I haven't been doing a lot of thrifting of late but I did find this Zara pea coat for $12.50 (it was half price). Other than a tan coat, I'm all set for next season!

So while most of these deals have come and gone I'm linking up some similar pieces on sale so you can score too!

Hope you too have been lucky lately too - would love to hear about your recent finds!

Everything Is $25 & Under at the Cynthia Steffe & Vince Camuto Sample Sale!

For a couple years now I've been meaning to check out the Cynthia Steffe sample sale as it's notorious for it's insanely cheap prices. When I spotted this notice on Instagram I made sure to be at the doors when they opened this morning.

Additional brands included were: Vince Camuto, 1.State, CeCe and Chaus. They also had other random brands floating around too. Prices started at $10 for bottoms, $15 for tops and rompers, and topped out at $25 for dresses and jackets. Sizes were mostly size small or 4 and the back wall was all plus sizes.

I should warn you, it's easy to get caught up in the shopping frenzy. Take a plastic garbage bag when you walk in because you're gonna need it. Hoards of shoppers were grabbing everything in sight. Take everything that may work for you and find a corner to try on. Unfortunately there are no mirrors so find a shopping buddy whose opinion you trust - but you can always have them take a picture with your phone if you're not sure.

These pictures were taken after I shopped so it was already pretty empty. They said they would be slowly restocking as they had boxes and boxes to unpack.

This is what I mean by random brands - spotted this NWT Kamali dress.

Spotted this floral CeCe dress in several colors.

Couldn't find any leather jackets but they had a few faux ones.  This one was by Chaus.

Cynthia Steffe dress, size 4.

Cynthia Steffe faux fur colored vests.  Cute colors but too boxy for me.

Another Cynthia Steffe dress, size 4 - had a few colors.

I wish looked for more skirts as they were only $10. These faux leather ones were cute but I still passed.

Plaid unlabeled coat.

Vince Camuto faux fur poncho.

Vince Camuto faux fur vest.

Vince Camuto faux suede fringed jacket.

Zara wool moto jacket.

I'm linking pieces I spotted other people trying on at the sale:

You really need a lot of patience for this sale. Lots of digging and lots of waiting around for people to put stuff back. Here's what came home with me...

NWT Topshop dress/tunic, retail $105. They charged me $10 for some reason and I'm not complaining. It's a little snug across the chest but that's because I'm not a size 4 in Topshop. Reminds me of one of my Rebecca Taylor dresses.

Vince Camuto size small long cape, retail $199. I had seen this before so for $25 it was a no-brainer. Very linty thou.

Cynthia Steffe size small knit dress, retail $228, paid $25. Very Chanel. All I need is a white leather camellia pin for the neck :)

Black fur capelet, $25. Looks like a vintage piece and has pretty embroidered lining. Pretty sure it's the real deal so I took it.

After the sale I ran out of time so I didn't pop into the Bauble Bar sale but I heard it wasn't that great anyway. I headed uptown to meet a new personal shopping client, so after I went to my old favorite thrift store at the church at 96th and Broadway. Sadly it's just not what it was. I used to get so much designer stuff for next to nothing there but it was full of overpriced junk today (and the past few times I checked). I did dig these designer kids pieces out of the bins for $1 each. The tutu dress is Little Mass, the black lace tunic is Deux Par Deux, and I just couldn't leave behind the tiny baby Mayoral sweater. It's so cute I'll save it for my future grandkids if I have to LOL.

The Cynthia Steffe sale is on thru Friday and I would recommend stopping by if you're in the hood. No amazing designer pieces but lots of cheap, wearable clothing to be found. BaubleBar is on thru Saturday. Both sales should reduce prices towards the end :)

Fringed Fashion, Bargainista Style

I just lost my entire post so here we go again...

Yesterday my parents were honored at my old elementary school so I pulled out my thrifted Tom and Linda Platt vintage fringe dress and paired it with my shiny new YSL heels and Jimmy Choo purple clutch for a pop of color.

From head to toe:
  • Lipstick: MAC Victoriana, Isabel & Ruben Toledo collab, $17.50 (free with Nordstrom Notes)
  • Earrings: A.V. Max snake earrings, sample sale, $4
  • Dress: Tom and Linda Platt, thrift store, $15 (their dresses retail for $500-1000+)
  • Bag: Jimmy Choo violet Charm satin Swarovski Clutch, sample sale, $250 (last retail I found online was $2,600 but that may have been the sale price)
  • Bracelets: A.V. Max crystal bangle, sample sale, $5 and spiked cuff, Nordstrom Rack, $5
  • Shoes: YSL, Nordstrom Rack, $131.23.

My brother's girlfriend thought it would be fun to take a slow-motion video of me twirling. Here is the abridged video. All you're really missing is me stumbling out of frame. Spinning + little alcohol + heels = not the best idea LOL.

Thank you to my nephew, Bin who took my pics so my husband wouldn't have to LOL.

I'm linking these pieces and similar so you can shop my look :)

And in case you missed my Insta post, Clear the Rack at Nordstrom Rack is going on now thru January 3rd! In addition to an extra 25% off red and blue tag clearance, they are offering a whopping 50% off clearance dresses in store only!!! I hate shopping on Saturday nights but when I heard I ran over because that's a game changer.

I totally cracked up when I saw a SA walking around with stickers on his shirt clearly explaining what was on sale and what wasn't. Hats off to my girl Wanda who had everyone in the shoe department sporting these tags today.

Can't wait to share all my finds in my next haul post! Would love to hear what you picked up this CTR :)

Dresses and Shoes Rule at the Rebecca Taylor Sample Sale!

Last night I headed to the VIP preview for the Rebecca Taylor sample sale. Last round it was amazing so I went in with high hopes - I picked up five amazing dresses and so far you've only seen three of them. Sadly this time I was not as successful. However, if you are a RT fan it's definitely still worth a peek as there are some bargains to be found :)

I met up with blogger babe, Shira of A Sequin Love Affair, who also dreamed of scoring of Rebecca's super girly dresses. She shot me in my latest OOTD.

From head to toe:

  • Earrings: Jenny Bird, Rocksbox, free (retail $45)
  • Sunglasses: Prada, Nordstrom Rack, $0.01
  • Jacket: Elizabeth and James Renley, sample sale, $100 (retail $1,365!)
  • Dress: H&M, $3
  • Bracelet: Nordstrom Rack, $5
  • Bag: Balenciaga, Nordstrom Rack refurb
  • Boots: Cole Haan, thrifted, $8

Below is the complete price list. Sample prices went up so I was already disappointed from the moment I walked thru the door. Last time sample dresses were $50 and now they are $75. Plus the selection isn't nearly as good...

Here is a complete look at the sample area. They switched it up so when you enter it's in the back on the left. Your best deals are the $25 knit tops or the pants, skirts or shorts for just $30.

A few of my top picks include this gorgeous embellished number - looked like a size 2/4. The sample sizing seemed to run smaller this time too. They were anywhere between a 0-8 but mostly 2s and 4s.

Love the beaded lace on this one -

Love me some pink - they had a 3 of these left but they were all size teeny-tiny.

Next up head to the shoes which were all $50! They had some Rebecca Taylor shoes and boots as well as some Loeffler Randall too. I grabbed a pair of these perforated booties. Very comfortable! Note about shoe sizing - I'm usually a Euro 40 but I needed the 39 in all their shoes. Typically I am a solid 9/9.5 in US sizing. Also - inspect your shoes carefully! Some issues are marked with tape but there is a tiny hole in my booties that I didn't notice until I got home.

I REALLY wanted these fur booties but they only had a 7.5, 9.5 and 10. Boo.

I actually also took the black ankle booties on the right that are backwards in the pic below.

I would have taken others had they more choices in my size. They did have the strappy heels that are pictured in several colors but they were very wobbly when you walked.

The accessories were not so exciting or well priced. These were all $45-60 so I just kept walking.

Stock clothing was arranged by size but I wasn't all that impressed by the selection. Pricing started at $59 for a knit top and topped out at $259 for outerwear.

This denim blazer caught my eye. But at $169 it was just too pricey. I've done much better on her stuff at the Rack or Burlington.

Lots of embellished sweatshirts for $119.

Not a lot of leather to be found. Unsure if this vest was considered to be a $169 jacket or $259 outerwear but either way it wasn't worth it IMO. Especially after the amazing $200 leathers that they had at Rebecca Minkoff (and mine was marked down to $150).

Outerwear for $259.

Wish I could have found this $99 lavender crop top in the sample area. So cute!

Also wish I could have found this $99 skirt in the sample area where it would have been $30!

So hopefully they will restock because the selection was pretty weak. I'll probably pop back in because I have to hit the City for the Charlotte Olympia sale on Wednesday and I'll probably check in at Sergio Rossi on their last day (Thursday). I did get the two pairs of booties that I mentioned above, as well as a couple sample dresses and a $30 sample leather skirt, but nothing as special as last time. Sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss in sample sale land.
