Wearing It - My $2000+ Look for Less than 200 Bucks :)

I teased this look a couple weeks back on Instagram but I'm so excited to share these photos by Nathan Rose Photography from my nephew's Bar Mitzvah. My entire look head to toe cost a whopping $173.30, which is pretty good considering the total retail is $2,070. #neverpayretail

Picked up this Milly golden lurex flutter dress at the Rent the Runway warehouse sale ($31.80, retail $470) a couple months ago and wasn't sure how I was going to style it until I paired it with my Tamara Mellon Submission sandals ($55 sample sale, retail $995). Once I had the shoes the look started to evolve. I pulled out my AV Max leather cuffs ($10 each sample sale, retail $70 & $80), my favorite Argento Vivo hammered drop earrings ($25 Nordstrom Rack, retail $60) and my DVF Tonda clutch ($41.50 Rent the Runway sample sale, retail $395).

My lipstick is my MAC Miley Cyrus Viva Glam ($17) and my eye makeup is courtesy of the amazing folks at Korres USA who sent me a package of mascara and liners after I walked away empty handed at their sample sale. I have super sensitive eyes and their makeup is seriously the only stuff I can use.

Here are a couple that Ella (my 8 year old photographer) took that day of my accessories:

And this is my nephew who I dressed head to toe. Love his crooked smile. He's 13 and already as tall as me.

I started his look with his shoes. His only direction was his colors (blue and turquoise) - and he gave me the kippah (head covering) he had customized for his Bar Mitzvah. I immediately knew he needed blue suede shoes and he loved the idea. His party had a skater-boy theme so instead of a shoe we went with a pair of sneakers. Nearly his entire party look head to toe was from Nordstrom Rack (other than his socks from Marshalls).

He's at a tough age because he needs to shop in the both the boys and mens departments. The Nordstrom brand suit was just $75 (retail $250) and the shirt was $11.25 - both scored at Clear the Rack. I selected coordinating ties for him and his dad (yes, I also dressed my BIL head to toe too) in the mens department - his was $13 (retail $100). I did have to pay full price for his size 10 Nikes at the Rack but they were $60 which wasn't terrible. His colorful socks came in a 4-pack for only $3 at Marshalls (yellow sticker!) so he wore a different pair at each event all weekend.

I styled him for dinner on Friday night and Sabbath services as well - also for next to nothing. We thriftily recut a few hand-me down suits and with a few pieces from Century and the Rack he looked like a million bucks.

I'm linking some of my favorites (or similar pieces as some are sold out) so you can shop my party look. Obviously it's not gonna be as cheap as when I found them but that's why you hire me to be your stylist :)

So yeah, I do wear my amazing finds. I even repeat some of my favorites. As always, would love to hear what you think!

XOXO

Tamara Mellon is back!

Hands down, the Tamara Mellon first ever sample sale was the best sample sale I'd been to in YEARS - and I went on the second day. You can read my sale report here. I got myself on the press list to make sure I didn't miss the next one. Well, she's back, baby!

The address is 260 5th Ave., between 28/29th. The closest subway is the N/R/6 train to 28th street.  The dates are February 26 thru March 1st. See above for the hours.

From what's listed in the press release the prices seem to have increased from last time but I'm not missing it anyway...just in case :)

Boat neck romper, retail $745, sale price $150. Last time most clothing was $50.

The Crave bootie, retail $1595, sale price $150. Last sale booties and boots were $75 and shoes started at $50.

Speed Date large bag, retail $2195, sale $250. If they had this at the last sale I would have snapped it up because bags were priced $50-100!!

Don't feel bad if you can't make it to the NY sale. She has incredible discounts right now online! They also have free US shipping to make it a no-brainer. All sales are final so select wisely. Sizing is pretty much the same as Jimmy Choo. (I'm a US 9 and a 39.5 or 40 depending on the style). They had some $35 shoes which are now sold out but here are a few of my picks for 90% off!

Retail $495 - 90% off!

These yellow 90MM Addictions are just $50! I got a few Addictions at the last sale and I really love them. The yellow would be the perfect pop of color for your drab winter wardrobe and easily carry you into Spring.

If you can handle a higher heel grab these Turquoise suede 105MM Addictions (about 4") for $50 as well :)

Retail $495 - 90% off!

The flat gladiator sandal is all the rage for Spring. They had a bunch of flat sandals for 90% off - $60 each! My pick is this fun yellow Jungle Fever flat.

Retail $595 - 90% off!

For $70 they had a few, and I'm a little in love with these black suede Hotspring flats.

Was $695, now $70 - 90% off!

I know a few people were drooling over these Submission patent sandals that I scored for $55 at the sample sale. Get yours online for $99 - that's still 90% off!

They also had a few pairs of booties for under $99! Loving these black suede Downtown Studs for $80!

Were $795 - now 90% off!

So whether you'll be hitting the sample sale or not, hurry on over to TamaraMellon.com - I'm sure you'll find something to tickle your fancy. Don't hesitate because it's selling out fast!

BEST SAMPLE SALE EVER! Tamara Mellon 90% off sale report & haul...

I know I'm behind on sharing some of my spectacular deals of late but I had to post this ASAP so you could run there. Like now. Stop reading this and go.

I was devastated when Jimmy Choo didn't have their sample sale this year. All I can say is screw you Jimmy Choo, the Tamara Mellon sale is SPECTACULAR. If you haven't heard of her she is the former Chief Creative Officer and co-founder of Jimmy Choo. I've loved her eponymous line and I've had my eye on her for a while (love her fringed bags!) but her goods were out of my price range. Today, they were not :)

The sale started yesterday and somehow I missed it. I can only imagine what I missed out on yesterday. Ugh. I took pictures after I finished shopping but my camera is on the fritz so they're all blurry. If you've read the Racked sale report you have an idea of what's inside. This sale is the best sample sale I've been to in years...and I've been sample saling for over 20 years now. It's like the good ole days when they actually sold samples (all gone today) and stock was sold for rock bottom prices. Again, write down the address (260 5th Ave., between 28th and 29th), stand up and go already!

This morning they got another shipment in - and who knows, there may be more tomorrow.

I went in looking for these Submission studded patent leather sandals (which are online for $995 right now!) and just as I was about to leave they found a pair hiding in the wrong box. They were a whopping $55 - no tax! It's a 41 but they must have been mis-sized because they fit. In all the other shoes I took a 40 other than the pointy heels which are 39.5. Typically I wear a 40 in a Jimmy Choo and Louboutin and a US 9.

#obsessed

Here is my entire shoe haul - they were all $50 or $55 a pair. The materials are so luxe - snakeskin, ponyhair, buttery leather, patent leather - they are all such beautiful shoes. When prices are this low you do NOT hesitate. You grab and let your friends buy your extras later :) My husband complained they all look so similar but in my defense, some heels are higher than others and I'll probably let a pair of two go. We'll see...

The dresses were $50 so I grabbed this beautiful winter white stretch wool sheath. They had a black too but I own 100 LBDs so I was looking for something different.

All I can say is Tamara, you are amazing! Thank you for sharing these spectacular deals with the public. I loved you at Jimmy Choo and right now I love you even more. Thank you!

Now go. The sale in on today until 8 pm, tomorrow 10-7 and Sunday 10-4. This is going to be the sale that we're going to be talking about for years!
