After attending a pre-NYFW event with Scarlett Hao, she invited me and Belle to MB45 Studio downtown for a free mani and blowout the next day. You know I always say yes to freebies so it was kinda a no-brainer. After a bitter winter, we were gifted just one magical unseasonably warm day so I took advantage and put on a spring outfit and some kicks for a day on my feet. I had a fashion week party to attend that evening so I had some cute booties in my bag too :)

Nothing super exciting - just cute and casual. You've seen this H&M dress last summer here and this green jacket before here. The necklace is AV Max - and their sample sale is actually on this week! Head to my previous post (here) to read all my latest sample sale picks!
After my blowout I ran to have my hair cut and looking back at these pics I kinda regret it. I'm going to resist the urge to fix my hair for a while - other than a few new highlights soon. I do have to say that as much as I loved the idea of the quick pampering, my mani didn't make it thru the day (and it was gel!) and at this point I'm a pro at waving my hair that I don't really need anyone else to do it.
*********************
The one show I attended was Anniesa Hasibuan. I actually met up with a few blogger friends which is probably the reason I showed up LOL. I can do a show solo (it's a faux pas to ask for a +1 so you're usually on your own) but it's always more fun with friends. I love that Belle went for it with her layered vintage look. Some mean girl actually said she looked like a vintage sofa - but I'm guessing it was because Belle was sitting in front of her in the front row of a show that morning LOL. #jealousmuch?
I actually spotted Belle on WWD in this look. So proud of my girl! And so excited for her because she's getting married this weeked!
I always chicken out when it comes to dressing for shows. I put together crazy looks than right before I leave I put on more subdued numbers. Most of this is on repeat other than my new Kate Spade furry hat. Got it for about $25 (RV $128) at Nordstrom Rack and I couldn't resist. We had exactly two minutes to shoot because we were running late for the show so we shot a couple and ran inside. It was also late in the day so the light wasn't all that great.
Just a few scenes for the Anniesa Hasibuan show. Shira of A Sequin Love Affair got inside first and was nice enough to save us a few seats :) The show was chock full of modest looks with a play on textures and dramatic silhouettes.
I figured my last post was so long I'd take it easy on you. You can read all this week's sample sale picks in my last post here.
I have a busy week so be sure to watch me run around on my Insta stories :)

Michelle, Living the Life...

Thanks so much - it's easier to attend than you'd think. Google how to get invited to fashion week - a few bloggers have written some great posts!
DeleteI was snowed in most of the week too but I'm still so obsessed with your ankle boots!
ReplyDeletehttp://asequinloveaffair.com
Thanks - that was one of my best winter finds for sure!
DeleteHopefully will attend in September <3
ReplyDeleteGood luck! It's a lot of fun!
DeleteI think we need another NYFW adventure...
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! I seriously can't stop smiling as I read this ! You were in the most amazing place and surrounded by such inspiring woman! I love to see and hear strong women such as yourself cheering each other on ! So wonderful! As far as your outfits ! I would say cute, casual and ALSO very exciting! Obsessed with the heels on that last look! And I wish someday I could have a mani and blowout with you !
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! Maybe one day :)
DeleteI still can't believe I've never been to NYFW. Each post I read on the shows and pics I see never disappoint! I'm moving out of state this year, so I doubt I'll get a chance to go this fall. Your blowout came out beautifully, by the way!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thebeautybeau.com
Really??!! You should plan on coming the following Fall (winters are tough). Hope to see you there one day!
DeleteThat is just wow! I've always wanted to be a part of NYFW but till now had no chance to do so. I've already planned my London, Paris and Berlin Fashion Weeks, can't wait for that.
ReplyDeleteAnd how fab your ankle boots are! So cute and so stylish!
Cheers, Eliza | www.fashion-confession.com
I gotta make my way to those fashion weeks too! One day...

Aww thanks Jennifer!
DeleteThis is my first time hearing of M45- another fun new place to add to the list! Reading this post brought up so many memories of NYFW :) Btw I don't think it's a faux pas if you ask to bring a photographer. It all depends on the relationship you have with the PR firm that's handling the event :) But great to hear you were sensible and took it easy as I did as well. It was far too cold to be running around in skimpy outfits and light layers! Great photos of the show as well!
ReplyDeletexo Soo | www.BrownEyedToast.com
Thanks Soo! I don't really have relationships with too many PR firms yet so I just say thank you and hope I know someone LOL. Maybe in a year or two... I was lucky my show pics turned out ok because I was second row and usually I can't get a decent pic if I'm not in the front row.
DeleteHow exciting ,I love New York and I definitely have New York fashion week on my bucket list but as I live in Australia and it's so far away it's definitely something for me to do in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think I like going anywhere with friends rather than by myself and here in Australia they usually let you have a plus one because how boring would it be otherwise really.
So sad that your gel mani didn't last ?! How did that happen?
I really hate it when someone styles my hair and I could've done it better myself it's totally time wasting.
New York fashion week looks like so much fun

It fun! It's funny about 20 years ago when I was visiting Australia my friend and I were wandering around and tried to crash Sydney Fashion Week. Didn't work LOL. Problem is in that in NY - everyone and their dog is a blogger or YouTuber so it's pretty competitive. And no clue why my gel didn't last. I was pretty annoyed. At least I didn't pay for it :)
DeleteGlad we are getting to see this peek from last year. Who doesn't love a good blow out and a mani?! Love your relaxed look and AV Max necklace really adds so much! I totally get you on not messing wit your hair though! I cut so much off and I've been missing a little more length! I know! Just had my toes done and gel and I've already chipped one! I've been doing a dip lately to prevent that! All of you looked fabulous btw! You should have gone for it! Fashion week is the time where you can be crazy looking and extra fabulous! I'll likely do the same this year though so I shouldn't be talking! Lol
ReplyDeleteManda | http://EvocativelyChosen.com
I want to try the dip for my fingers. The only time gel worked for me was when I had acrylics which I don't want to do again. And thanks :)
DeleteNever too late to post about NYFW! I would have totally chicken out too with that nasty weather. I remember that day that was nice in the middle of winter lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had fun and did this together. I want to do FW with a couple friends as well.
Love how your hair looked and your outfit was on point!

Thanks - it really is more fun with friends. I often make a few new friends every Fashion Week because after a while you start to see the same faces over and over.
DeleteHello dear !!
ReplyDeleteSo nice and exciting to stay and see the show .
Love your first look with the casual sneakers and te second with the studded gloves and beautiful ankle boots .
Hope you had fun and a great time

Thanks Eva. For all I complain I always have fun :)
DeleteYes babe omg I LOVED that you all got all glammed up you all look gorgeous and so fabulous! Haha of course it's always fun to attend the events with friends rather than on your own, the more the merrier! Especially if they're bloggers because you know you got some good photos to take together hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about dressing up and than chickening out because you're scared the outfit is too "loud" haha! Shy people problem!

It's funny - on a regular day I'm not afraid to get crazy but for some week I get nervous for Fashion Week.
DeleteAttending NYFW is one of my ultimate dream as a blogger!! I love the whole experience you and the girls gone through with hair and make up. The show itself is so beautiful with the strong and collection. I liked your style for the show, the gold glitter heels really made a statement.

It is. I'm lucky to be local :)
DeleteI'm so jealous! Attending even pre shoes is so amazing. And I hear you in the weather. Even dressed "casually" you look stunning. Love the gold accents in the collection.
ReplyDeleteThe pre-events are actually more fun. Gotta love freebies and food :)
DeleteI never attended NYFW in winter, because of colder weather and you can't really look super stylish with layers, but I always got amazed by seeing blogger when they wear just heels or dresses and take pictures outdoors. Man, i can't even think of it. Brrr... But I love your outfit, it looks very elegant and Bell's look is quite lovely. She is quite brave to wear leggings under dress. I am also fan for freebies haha, we are all!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.queenhorsfall.com/
Oh hun, you're so wise. Having attended roundabout 40 shows in 14 days during three different fashion weeks (2 more to go) I am wondering if I shouldn't just narrow it down to the ones I REALLY REALLY want to go to, haha. And as I know you dress amazingly, don't chicken out on wearing something really cool and crazy, although this outfit was completely elegant and true to your style. As for Belle I remember that "old sofa" comment she got, but I think she looks fab anyway, haha. :)

Hi Michelle. Do you have any tips for cleaning RT silk dress at home? Thanks:)
ReplyDeleteIt depends - are we talking about a stain or just general cleaning?
DeleteHaha when I first found you on social media, I thought we were around the same age. Definitely thank your parents for their good genes transferring to you! I agree with you, Botox may be okay, but its certainly not something I would want to rely on. It starts with good skincare and Simply Venom seems like the brand to use!
