Blog sale! Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Longchamp, Kate Spade, Tory Burch...

First of all, I still have my giveaway - it's not too late to enter :) Look to your right for more info.

I don't have time right now to share all my amazing finds this week so I'm just going to get to the good stuff...

And now - blog sale time!

Here are my rules: everything is sold as is (feel free to ask questions) and I don't do returns because I'm not Wallmart. Prices are listed (no haggling) and I do combine shipping costs. At this time I only ship to US addresses that are verified by Paypal. I am a personal shopper and I add a 20% upcharge (because my finds are so heavily discounted) in addition to my cost/tax/shipping/paypal fees that I round off into a neat little number for you. If you don't my prices feel free to put in the time hunting for these deals like I do. As always, friends get first dibs but my loyal followers are always welcome to join in on the fun. Resellers are not welcome - I know how to Ebay too. Contact me on my Shoppinggalnyc Facebook page if you're interested in anything :)

I've had several readers inquire about Marc by Marc Jacobs bags so I grabbed a bunch!

SOLD This is a refurbished Machive Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, retailed for $398 - get this one for $158 local pickup or $173 shipped. It has a few light marks, nothing serious but this is a refurb so it's not perfect. If you think you see something on the bag it's probably just a shadow lol. Not sure of the name of the color - looks like a reddish-rose/pink color.

  • 11"W x 9"H x 4 ½"D. (Interior capacity: medium.)
  • 18" - 26" crossbody strap drop.
  • A logo plate punctuates the curvy flap of a soft leather crossbody shaped with poshly pleated body.
  •  Adjustable strap.

SOLD I've been asked for Longchamp before so I grabbed this gray Le Pilage medium expandable tote that retailed for $198, get this for $106 local pickup or $116 shipped. May have a few faint marks, nothing serious. As for sizing, on reviewer on Nordstrom.com said "The size of the tote is very close to the large 'le Pliage', and would make a nice compact gym bag or large tote purse. Expanded it is probably close to the size of a queen size pillow case."

For all of you Tory Burch lovers I picked up this rosegold perf logo small clutch - they call the color royal salmon. Retailed for $295, get mine for $132 local pickup or $142 shipped. May have a few faint marks, nothing serious.

And last but not least - I grabbed a couple Burberry pieces.

This Burberry Brit check trim drape front cardigan is a size small (size 4-6 according to Nordstrom.com) retailed for $350 - get this one for $145 local pickup or $155 shipped. If you remove the tag you can probably wear it reversed. This is a refurbished item but it looks great.

My first giveaway and my insanely busy week...lots of good stuff :)

Welcome to my first giveaway! It's nothing too exciting, just some fun stuff that I found at the Rack for a steal :) I'm including two Nordstrom makeup kits that retailed for $14.95 each and a pair of Free Press pair of earrings that were $17.97. Look to the right to enter :)

I often stockpile cheap odds and ends for gifts. Let's flip them over so you can see what I spent on these...

$3.97 total LOL!

The kits are brand new and unopened - the packages aren't perfect but I figured someone would get a kick out of them :) I just wanted to thank my fans and show my appreciation. It means a lot to me when I have a stranger approach me and/or message me that they are enjoying my blog. It's nice to know I'm not just talking to myself here LOL.

I decided to try Rafflecopter to help set it up but they aren't so helpful with customer support (no way of calling them or live chatting and when they respond via email all they do is send you a link instead of answering your questions) so if it's not set up correctly please bear with me.

Giveaway end Tuesday (June 17th) at midnight EST when one lucky winner will be chosen. Open to anyone with a US mailing address (I'm not shipping internationally at this time). Good luck! Tell your friends :)

***********

Last week my husband went to Costa Rica for a conference (Sunday night thru Friday) and left me solo with the kids. I don't know how single moms do it. I'm exhausted. Add a busy couple of weekends and a crazy week ahead of me and I'm taking it slow today. And when I say slow I mean get my blog up, do a double workout (because I was too tired yesterday), finish several loads of laundry, buy new shades and and install them in 3 rooms, build 2-3 storage units, pick up the kids, do homework, put them to bed and get some cooking and cleaning done for the upcoming Jewish holiday of Shevuot that starts Tuesday night. Did I mention I'm hosting TWO birthday parties this upcoming Sunday and I have not even started planning yet? Ugh. (Just crossed out everything I didn't get to do...)

My husband was told by the kids to bring back souvenirs. He returned with these cute wooden frogs that "croak" when you rub them with the stick and some animal puzzles - all big hits. Note that some pieces are missing already.

Maybe I shouldn't be complaining but this is what I got.

Why?

When I saw it I told him "You know, this sh@t is going on Instagram." (I didn't.) I think my husband who has known me for almost 15 years has confused me with a 12 year old girl. In his defense the jewelry set was free - he won it in an raffle at his conference. It's supposedly made by local women artisans who are given the pieces and they put them together to sell them and support their families. I'll be giving my 'gifts' to my more age appropriate 5 and 7 year olds. Actually, I bet my 9 year old son would really like the bag.

***********

Back to last week. Sunday we drove out to Poconos (almost 2 hours each way) to spend the day with friends and their vacation home. The kids had fun by "painting" our car with bubbles (that now has pollen stuck to it) and graffited up the cabin walls. Luckily the hosts have kids too so they were good sports.

On Memorial Day was the first day without DH so I took the kids to the local street fair for some fun and food. If you follow me I'm sure you saw this one of Instagram or Facebook. My littlest monster cracks me up :) Both my girls have this Next 'I Love Shopping' shirt. It actually suits my 7 year old more than my 5 year old but it was the only clean red, white and blue top I could in her that day.

During the week, I woke up early to work out, make lunches, feed and dress the kids, and drive them to school. Good thing I'm a morning person. Nighttime was hard though. But as long I was up and out early I did a little thrifting :)

On Tuesday thriftday I went to my favorite place and it seems someone my size dumped all their boots LOL. I even passed on a couple pairs and took just my favorites. I also found a beautiful blazer - and I'm a sucker for toppers. A good coat/jacket/blazer can make an outfit.

Clockwise from left to right - $13 Aquatalia waterproof suede boots (retail for $500), $15 Anni Kuan blazer, $20 Cole Haan Nike Air patent leather waterproof boots (retail $200) & $10 Minnetonka shearling booties ($90). The blazer has an interesting textured material - it seems all her stuff is made in NYC with imported fabric. It reminds me of a wet peacock LOL but I couldn't leave it because it's so different.

It's been a really long time since I hit a Salvation Army. On Wednesday I stopped in for Family Day, when they have 50% off all clothing and shoes, except for the latest color (their sales tags are coded by color). I got my sister a couple dresses for $3.50 and $4 each. It isn't often I find cute plus-size stuff :)

I think I need a better camera. Please ignore all the spots from the flash.

I know I swore I would stop buying clothing that would never fit me but I spotted this $400 Jovovich-Hawk (by actress Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk) size 2 'Iggy' dress for $2.50 and I couldn't help myself.

Here you can see the version with white (instead of brown) on Victoria Bekham and Milla herself.

Who wore it better?

For $2.50 I also got this American Apparel convertible skirt/dress. It was supposed to be for my niece but I decided to keep it :)

And last but not least I found this cute Arden B. jacket for four bucks. Again, I probably didn't need it but I'll revisit it in the fall when it's time for jackets again.

***********

Slowish week at the Rack. I got my sister a cute top for $10 and this dress for $15. The dress is a size too big but it's wearable - I actually wore it Saturday night to my SIL's birthday party with a pair of Stuart Weitzman wedge espadrilles ($5 Nordstrom Rack) and my new Rebecca Minkoff Tokyo pouch I got a few weeks ago. I took a few selfies but the lighting was so bad that nothing came out :(

Check out the pockets :)

Then there is my new Donna Karan suit. And I'm not talking DKNY!

I've been keeping an eye on all the Donna Karan stuff lately but it's usually $400-$800 a piece at the Rack. Got this $2,545 jacket and skirt for $99.90!!! I think they were supposed to sell it as separates but they had a sensor attaching both pieces and she rang up the tag on the jacket (skirt didn't have a price tag just a Donna Karan tag). They had the matching top but it was too small and priced at over $100 so I left it.

Check out the amazing seaming inside the jacket :)

$1695 is the price for just the jacket - the skirt retailed for $850 = total $2,545. Scanned for just $99.90!!!

High-waisted skirt with asymmetrical details.

Best find was this $298 Trouve leather jacket for $19.90. I'm posting the sku so you can try to locate one but I had them track it that day in every color and every size but this came up as the last one in the company.
Love!

***********

And that's all folks! I still have to workout (I didn't cross that off the list because I refuse to skip it) and see if I can build my units. I got a bunch of these in different sizes for 50% off at Target last week. I love cubbies instead of drawers. It's easier to just dump all the socks in one bin, undies in another...I got several sizes and colors for all over the house. I'm going to see what I can use and return the rest. The smaller ones were around $10 and the most expensive one I got (not pictured) was a 12 cube unit for $36.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway :)

H&M bikini review and Clear the Rack finds!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! That means it's time to start thinking about swimwear. Personally I'm a bikini girl. I rocked them for all three pregnancies too :) Even at my heaviest I still had a defined waist so bikinis worked better for me (with a strategically placed cover up) than a tankini, and frankly I have not worn a one-piece since I was 12. Unless you're on a swim team, let's face it, most one-pieces are for the elderly or babies. I actually cringe every time I see someone wearing a one-piece when they shouldn't. This applies to a few people I know so if you're an offender, yeah, I'm talking to you!

For years I had a ritual that just before my birthday (7/11) I would run to Loehmann's and get a new birthday bikini using my birthday discount. As my birthday approaches...and a pool party this weekend...I hit the stores this week to see what I could find.

With Loehmann's out of business, I've been shopping for swimwear in Marshalls and TJ Maxx. The trick is to shop off season when items are marked lower -  plus you typically have more of a selection. I headed first to my local stores and they were already a pretty picked over. Last year I noticed that H&M cuts their bikini tops by cup size and I was very tempted to buy. Unfortunately I was at my heaviest and didn't hit the pool too many times last summer. I managed with what I had and promised myself some new pieces when I lost the weight. I'm down a good 20+ lbs from then so it's most definitely time to buy :)

In the "olden" days (ie 10-15 years ago) if you were a larger than a B cup you typically had to head to a specialty store to find a swim top. Luckily for me I was a 34B until I had my kids and could easily shop just about anywhere. I had well endowed friends and family who easily spent $50-100 on a suit, whereas I could easily grab a discounted designer one for 20 bucks or less. Now, thanks to H&M I can get a great designer inspired bikini (that fits) for less than $10!

I went to H&M looking for a top as close to a bra as possible LOL. I'm down to a 34D (they got bigger when I did) so I need a little support these days. As an almost 40 year old, gone are the days I can go braless. No more flimsy, strappy triangle bikini tops for me - I need wide straps and an underwire LOL. I've always liked having small breasts but as long as I have these bigger ones, I'm going to put them to use. You just have to make sure they are in the right place, KWIM.

I noticed this cute patterned studded top a few weeks ago for $9.95. In-store (not online) at H&M right now it's a "fashion find" and marked down to $4.95 - as is the bottom! It has shaped cups (no crazy Victoria's Secret padding) and an underwire. Unfortunately it ties in the back and the top so it's not as supportive as I would like but for five bucks you can't go wrong. They have it in sizes 34A thru 38D. (Some styles cut from 32A all the way up to an 36E cup.) I got this top to wear with my black skirted bottom I already have and probably should go try on - hopefully it's not too big.

close up detail of pattern and studs

My JAG swim skirt is pretty similar to this one; slight a-line, built in panty, not too short and I'm pretty sure it was $10 at Marshalls a couple years ago. If you need one in a hurry you can grab this one for $37.50 at Bonton.com.

The set also comes in brown (which I prefer) but I figured the black and white pattern would match my black swim skirt better.

I also grabbed a second top in neon pink that has a ruched cup and fits like a glove. Somehow this shade of pink even makes me look tan. It ties at the neck too but it does clasp at the back like a bra for a better fit. It's not available online yet and it was $17.95 but with the 20% off a single, full-price item coupon from my mall office (I collect the coupon booklets several times a week LOL) it was less than $15. The fit is similar to this white top which I also tried on. I would have grabbed it in-store but it's full price there (it's only a "fashion find" online and then you have to pay $5.95 shipping) and you can't return online items to the store for some reason. Stupid policy.

My new tops. Pink looks less orange-y IRL.

White top also has a great fit, underwire, and no extra padding (just shaped). Available in sizes 34A thru 38D. FYI - don't get this top in the green, it cut small.
I also got this $12.95 dress and this $19.95 necklace this week (both 20% less with my coupon LOL).

A little sheer but not too bad.

I haven't worn a necklace like this in years but it's so striking on.

I still may return my $5 top (my pink one is really much better) but I'll decide after the weekend.

*****************

Clear the Rack started today at Nordstrom Rack and even though I didn't need anything, it's always worth a peek when they offer an extra 25% off clearance items.

I picked up a few odds and ends in the jewelry department - all $3-16 pre-tax, after discount. I seem to be finding a lot of inexpensive jewelry lately. I really love the Robert Rose earrings but they are a little heavy for me so they may need to go back :(

My best find was probably my refurbished Choos :) For $229.97 I wouldn't have bothered but they got me with that extra 25% off. No tax in NJ so these Jimmy Choo "Crowns" were just $172.48. Jimmy Choo decided not to do a sample sale this year (Boo!) so they weren't as great as my $90 deals from last year, but still pretty good.

Jimmy Choo Crown open toe pumps, retail $695

Don't bother calling - you can't track a refurbished item :(
Stock photo

I did spot this Herve Leger bolero for just $150 (retail $990) after discount but I passed. You can call the Bergen Rack and have it shipped for $9 if you want it. I left it on the designer rounder in the back.

*****************

Some of my other finds this week included these Judith Jack sterling silver earring for $30 from $150. I didn't think they would make it to Clear the Rack so I grabbed them.

I also scored these beautiful Argento Vivo sterling silver earring (I'm guessing they are gold-plated) from TJ Maxx for just under $20. Too bad I couldn't find my $20 reward or they would have been free. I'm not sure what kind of stone this is but the mint color sets off my hazel eyes perfectly :)

And that's all folks - have a great weekend! Be sure to check out Clear the Rack, now thru Sunday :)
