Ready for some shoe porn? Check out my Christian Siriano & Korres sample sale haul, Nordstrom Rack BCBG find and C21 designer sale report :)

Like Dannijo, Christian Siriano is another sample sale that eluded me. Yesterday morning I headed in bright and early to check it out. The doors were set to open at 10am but as always, I got there super early. I can't say it enough, rule #1 of sample sale-ing is to always be first in line. I arrived at about 8:30, just as the manager was heading in and he asked me if I wanted to come in and shop. Yes, please! For over an hour I had the store to myself :)

They didn't have a price list so I'll share what I remember (and I could be wrong so don't quote me). Current season in the front was 20% off, Spring was 50% and as you headed to the back, pieces were marked $40-300 for older collections. And the most exciting part, all the shoes were $50!!!!

I had only snapped a handful of pictures when he asked me to stop (he did say I could have these) but it's enough for you to get an idea of what they had. Plus you can look at pics from past sales, it's not too far off. So I teased a little on Instagram and Twitter but let's start the big reveal now...

None of the clothing worked for me (I was tempted by some $100 coats and a $40 long evening skirt) but I killed it in the shoe department. These raffia heels were so different that I just couldn't resist. I showed them to someone and she described them as mermaid shoes :) If you are going please note that the shoes ran big. I'm typically anywhere between 9-10 and Eur 40 but here I took a 8.5/9.

Here's the kicker, all of Christian's "Gold" runway shoes are made by Payless. Had I realized I probably would have bought a little less. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing and do not look like his $30 pieces you see at the mall but they are still made in Payless factories. All of a sudden $50 for used Payless shoes (some pairs were new) is a little less exciting. This is why it's so important to do you due diligence. Had I researched past sales a little better I would have known. But in my defense, sometime I like to go in there with a fresh perspective so I don't go looking for specific pieces and get disappointed.

They had me at fringe. The beading on these shoes is unbelievable. So what if I can't really walk in them LOL.

For these minty numbers, I really have to thank Shira of A Sequin Love Affair who asked me to find her a pair of similar beaded shoes. I didn't see any on the floor so I asked the manager and he pulled these babies from the back. They were the only pair...and my size. These are the only shoes that I got that were not marked Payless and the tag on the bottom reads $565. If you want a pair too they still have them online in size 6 & 7 for $470.

And last but not least, my orange beaded shoes. They are a size too big but I could not leave them behind. I can't believe these were made by Payless. Spectacular.

 Now altogether...

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO Sample Sale
August 21-23, F-Sat 10-7 Sun 12-6
252 Elizabeth Street, NYC
Cash or Charge

***************

After Christian Siriano, I walked around the corner for the last day of the Korres sample sale. I swear by their mascara and eye pencils because I have hyper sensitive eyes and I really can't wear anything else. They were out of mascara and the only eye pencil they had was yellow so I decided to try their eye cream for $1 (full size is around $45 and this is half of that) and moisturizer for $15 (retail $38). Most of the lip colors were not for me so I grabbed this bright pink lip butter because it was $5 (usually $14). It seems they are discontinuing my mascaras (I asked to even buy one at full price) so they said if they find any in the warehouse they will let me know. Fingers crossed.

My last stop was 14th street to hit Nordstrom Rack. I heard they've been getting a lot of cheap BCBG again so I popped in and scored this adorable capelet for just $19.97 (retail $248). It's time to start thinking about Fall!

A couple friends mentioned they found some cute cheap designer shoes at Burlington Coat Factory so I went next door and didn't find anything. I'm gonna try again at another location today.

And then I went home and passed out. It's just too hot to be running around the City and I did it twice this week.

I shared a few days ago (on Instagram) that Century 21 would be having a Fall designer preview. I stopped by to see what they had :)

I'm on the hunt for a new signature coat so I took at peek at this Burberry shearling. Then I saw the $2000 pricetag and walked away. It's a great price for a $9000 coat but I can't justify that kind of money on one piece these days.

$3000 Balmain, anyone?

Most of it was still pretty expensive but they did have a few better priced pieces like this Giambattista Valli dress for $239.

I was on my way out when I spotted this gorgeous Chloe. This is so what I'm looking for for Fall. Too bad it comes with a hefty $1,300 price tag.

Tomorrow's the last day if you're interested!

    1. It's a small and it was the only one. The cheap BCBG flies out the door so you really have to be there when it gets there.

  2. Love seeing all these pics and finds, I can never get over the shoe deals you find! I agree with you about the "Payless" shoes, lol. but honestly they do not look like Payless shoe at all, straight off the runway! I find BCBG at NR too and always have to look at the item like three times because I can't believe the price, especially if you see the same items at their store at reg price! I'll def be on the lookout for the cape, what a steal! I'd better go before I write a short novel here, haha.

    1. Thanks - I don't know what I would do without my sample sales. The Christian Siriano staff actually tweeted me; "Glad you like your shoes. Just for your reference Payless factories produce some of the largest brands in the world.-CSstaff" Who knew?

It always pisses me off when I fall in love with the one piece of BCBG at the Rack that's not $20 but this time I got lucky :)

  3. They forgot to take off the Yoox tag! A friend who works at C21 told me that they have real samples and even 90% off items at these trunk shows. I was thinking of checking it out tomorrow but from your post things look very expensive.

I remember at the last Siriano sale there was a lot of debate about the shoes, some employees saying they're made in Italy but of course they were not. They're cute shoes but original prices of $500 for non-leather shoes made in China doesn't make sense.

You might want to try next week's Scoop warehouse sale for coats. I saw some amazing pieces during the last Scoop sale at 260.

    1. That's actually a Century tag - I've seen it before. Evidently they buy out Yoox stuff. They do have beautiful stuff at the trunk shoes but prices always start at $200-300 and go into the thousands.

Other brands put out expensive non-leather shoes (like Stella) but I'm not sure where they are made. That being said I'm ok with my $50 shoes because I picked some really special ones.

And thanks for the tip - maybe I'll see you there :)

  4. Those shoes are to die for! I can't believe some of those were made for Payless (and that would probably make me think twice about spending $50 on them). But even so, they are seriously amazing. I bet you have the most fabulous shoe collection, lol!

    1. Thanks :) They were made by Payless not for Payless. He has a cheaper line for Payless. These are the shoes that are made for his collection for the runways and are sold at a much higher pricepoint. Mind you had I know this I may have purchased less but they are pretty amazing. I do love my shoes - if only I had more places to wear them :)
